Messages

The Messages tab puts your Depop and Vinted chats side by side in two columns, so you can read and reply without opening each marketplace’s inbox. The column for the site you’re on sits on the left. Messages covers Depop and Vinted; eBay support is coming.

Each card shows the other person’s avatar and username, how long ago the last message was sent, a preview of that message, and the item the conversation is about. Conversations with unread messages carry an unread badge.

What the columns show

Both columns list every conversation with a message inside the time window, read or unread, whether or not you’ve already replied. The newest conversation sits at the top of each column.

  • Time window. The dropdown in the toolbar sets how far back to look: 1, 3, 5, 7, 14 or 30 days. It starts at 3 days.
  • Vinted shows up to the 20 most recent conversations in the window. SaleLinx loads each Vinted conversation one at a time, because loading lots at once can get you temporarily blocked, so this column takes longer to fill than the Depop one. Conversations with no written messages (only an offer or an order update, for example) are left out.
  • Depop shows up to the 72 most recent conversations in the window.

The number in the toolbar is how many conversations are listed across both columns, and each column header shows its own count in brackets. It is not an unread count.

From version 1.1.12, conversations where you are the buyer also appear, with a Buying chip, and the username on the card is the seller’s. Earlier versions show only chats about your own listings.

The × on a card hides it until the next refresh.

Opening a thread

Click a card to open the thread inside it. Only one thread is open at a time: opening another closes the first. Vinted threads are already loaded, so they open straight away. Depop threads load when you open them, so the first open takes a moment.

Replying

The reply box sits under the open thread. Type your message, then press Enter or click the send button. The box is a single line, so you can’t add line breaks.

Replies jump ahead of any background work SaleLinx is doing on that marketplace. If a reply can’t be sent, you’ll see Failed to send message. and your text stays in the box so you can try again.

The button next to send opens the chat on the marketplace (on Depop, your inbox) for anything the panel doesn’t do, such as sending photos, blocking or reporting.

Refreshing

The tab loads when you open it. There’s no automatic refresh on a timer. Coming back to the tab within two minutes reuses the last results instead of asking the marketplaces again.

To fetch fresh results, click the refresh button in the toolbar or change the time window. Both columns clear to loading placeholders, and each one fills in as soon as its marketplace answers.

When a column is empty

  • No new messages means nothing in that column falls inside the time window. Try a longer window.
  • If a column can’t reach its marketplace, it says so instead of showing an empty list, for example when no tab for that marketplace is open or you’re signed out. Fix that, then click refresh.
  • A blurred column with a Link account button means you haven’t linked that marketplace yet. The button takes you to Settings.

Plan and access

Messages is included in the Trial, Starter, Pro and Business plans. See pricing for what each plan includes.

Next steps

  • Offers - accept, decline or counter buyer offers from the same panel.
  • Labels - the next step after a sale closes. Each order there has a Message button that opens the buyer’s chat in this tab.
  • Grow - grow the audience whose messages these are.
