Dead Stock

The Dead Stock tab scores every active listing in your shop against its age, view count, and like count, then sorts them into four health tiers. It surfaces the items that are tying up capital without producing sales, so you can decide whether to drop the price, relist, or delete them.

Dead Stock works on Depop and Vinted listings; eBay support is coming.

When to use it

  • Your shop is large enough that you can’t eyeball stale items yourself.
  • You want a regular “triage” pass before listing new stock.
  • You’re about to set up Price Drops and want to pick the right candidates.
  • You want to know how much money is sitting in stock that’s unlikely to sell.

How the classification works

Each active listing is placed in one of four tiers. The thresholds differ by marketplace because Depop and Vinted have different baseline engagement rates.

Depop

  • Dead Stock: 21+ days old, and fewer than 5 likes or fewer than 30 views.
  • Stale: 10+ days old, and fewer than 5 likes or fewer than 30 views.
  • Slow Mover: 5+ days old, and fewer than 3 likes or fewer than 15 views.
  • Healthy: anything above those bars.

Vinted

  • Dead Stock: 30+ days old, and fewer than 5 likes or fewer than 40 views.
  • Stale: 14+ days old, and fewer than 5 likes or fewer than 40 views.
  • Slow Mover: 7+ days old, and fewer than 3 likes or fewer than 20 views.
  • Healthy: anything above those bars.

Sold, hidden and draft listings are excluded. Age is measured from the date the listing was created on the marketplace, not the last refresh or price change. A relisted item counts as new, because relisting creates a fresh listing.

Why two thresholds (likes OR views)?

A listing with 50 views but zero likes is failing differently from one with 5 likes but no views. Either is a warning sign. The OR catches both failure modes.

Reading the tab

The Dead Stock tab has four blocks, top to bottom:

  1. The capital banner - how much money is tied up in flagged listings, for example “£420 stuck in 18 items · oldest 64 days”. The total is the combined price of every Dead Stock, Stale and Slow Mover listing. If you sell in more than one currency, you see one total per currency.
  2. Inventory Health - cards counting Total Active listings and how many sit in each tier.
  3. Worst Performers - cards for your five worst-performing listings, ordered first by tier (Dead Stock, then Stale, then Slow Mover) and then by likes per day (lower is worse). Each card has a Relist button.
  4. All Flagged Listings - every Dead Stock, Stale and Slow Mover listing, with its photo, title, price, age, views, likes and tier badge. Healthy listings are only counted, never listed.

The filters above the list narrow it by tier (All, Dead, Stale, Slow, Price dropped) and by marketplace. They only change the list. The capital total, the tier counts and the Worst Performers cards always cover both marketplaces.

Double-click any card or row to open the listing on the marketplace.

Taking action

Each row in the list has three buttons:

  • -10% - lowers the listing’s price on the marketplace by 10% straight away. See “Price dropped” below.
  • Relist - opens the Relist window with that listing. See Relist.
  • Delete - deletes the listing on the marketplace. The first click changes the button to Click again to confirm; click again within a few seconds to go ahead.

-10% and Delete change your real listings, so use them deliberately. All three only work on listings from the marketplace you are currently browsing. To act on the others, open the panel on the other marketplace.

To relist several listings at once, tick their boxes (or click the rows) and press Relist Selected in the bar that appears at the bottom. Only listings from the marketplace you are browsing are relisted; the others are skipped with a message telling you to switch. Clear empties the selection.

Price dropped

After a -10%, the listing leaves its tier and rests under the Price dropped filter for 7 days, so your to-do list visibly gets shorter. Its row shows a badge with the size of the drop and when it happened; hover over it to see the old and new prices and how many days are left. A second -10% inside those 7 days adds to the first (the badge then reads -19%) and restarts the 7 days.

While it rests, the listing is left out of the tier counts, the capital total and the Worst Performers cards. If it still has not sold after 7 days, it returns to its tier.

How the data is gathered

Dead Stock uses the same listing data as My Listings, which SaleLinx keeps in sync in the background while the panel is open.

If SaleLinx has not recorded view or like counts for a listing yet, it counts them as zero, so an older listing can show as flagged until the next sync fills them in.

The Reload listings button above the list fetches fresh data from both marketplaces and re-classifies everything, rather than waiting for the background sync. Use it after a burst of sales or price changes, when the counts are behind what your shop actually looks like.

Recommended workflow

A weekly triage that uses the tab to drive other tools:

  1. Open the Dead Stock tab and check how much money is stuck.
  2. Filter to Dead items. For each:
    • If you still want to sell at the current price, Relist it to give it a fresh listing date.
    • If it’s priced too high, press -10%, or add it to Price Drops for a schedule of markdowns.
    • If you’ve already tried both, Delete it and free the slot for new stock.
  3. Filter to Stale items and give them a lighter bump with Refresh.
  4. Leave Slow items alone until the next pass; they’re too young to act on.

Plan and access

Dead Stock is included on Starter, Pro and Business, and on the free trial, which has the same features as Starter. Without an active plan the whole tab is locked.

Next steps

  • Price Drops - schedule markdowns on the items you flag here.
  • Refresh - a lighter visibility bump for Stale items.
  • Relist - the right tool for Dead Stock items.
