Vinted fees for sellers in 2026: what you pay and what buyers pay
By the SaleLinx team ·
Vinted charges sellers no fee. Not to list, not when an item sells, and not to withdraw the money. The buyer pays instead: a Vinted fee at checkout, usually 3% to 8% of the price plus £0.30 to £0.80, which until October 2026 was called the Buyer Protection fee. That fee is the one number that shapes what you can charge, because the buyer sees your price plus the fee plus postage, and that total is what they compare with everyone else. This guide sets out what each side pays, with Vinted’s own page linked for every figure, all checked on 30 October 2026.
You keep the full price you set. The buyer pays your price, a Vinted fee of roughly 3% to 8% plus £0.30 to £0.80, and the postage. On a £20 item that is about £21 to £22.40 before postage. The fee pays for Vinted’s refund policy and support, so it is what makes a nervous buyer press Buy now. Vinted Pro, for businesses, is also free, but Pro sellers must accept 14-day returns and wait 14 days for the money.
What sellers pay: nothing
Vinted’s selling basics page says it plainly: “There are no fees for selling on Vinted, and you can list as many items as you like.” The page on the fee rename repeats it: “There are no selling fees on Vinted.”
That covers the whole journey:
- Listing is free, with no monthly cap. eBay gives private sellers 300 free listings a month; Vinted sets no limit.
- Selling takes nothing off the price. Set £20 and £20 lands in your balance.
- Withdrawing is free. Vinted’s withdrawal page lists no fee, only a minimum of £0.10 and a wait of up to 5 business days for the money to reach your bank.
- Postage is paid by the buyer, every time. The shipping page says “The shipping is always paid by the buyer”, and Vinted emails you a prepaid label after the sale.
The things Vinted does charge sellers for are optional promotions: a Bump on one listing, or Showcase for up to 15. Both are priced at checkout and neither is needed to sell. Our Bump guide goes through when they pay.
What buyers pay: the Vinted fee
Every order placed through Buy now carries a Vinted fee. Vinted’s Vinted fee page calls it “a mandatory platform fee paid at checkout” and says it “typically includes a percentage of the item’s or bundle’s price, as well as a fixed fee”, “usually 3% to 8% + £0.3 to £0.8”. The price list, last updated 8 October 2026, gives the same range and adds that all prices include VAT.
Vinted does not publish the exact formula. It says the amount depends on the item, the order value and whether the order is a single item or a bundle. In practice the percentage is higher on cheap items and lower on dear ones, so the table below shows the published range rather than one figure.
| Your price | Vinted fee, published range | Buyer pays, before postage |
|---|---|---|
| £5 | £0.45 to £1.20 | £5.45 to £6.20 |
| £10 | £0.60 to £1.60 | £10.60 to £11.60 |
| £20 | £0.90 to £2.40 | £20.90 to £22.40 |
| £50 | £1.80 to £4.80 | £51.80 to £54.80 |
| £100 | £3.30 to £8.80 | £103.30 to £108.80 |
Two things follow from this for a seller:
- Price to the total, not to your number. A buyer deciding between your £20 jumper and someone else’s £19 one sees £21.50 against £20.40, plus postage. Check what the same item sells for, then remember the buyer is paying a pound or two more than the listed price.
- Bundles carry one fee. The fee is worked out on the bundle price, so a buyer taking three of your £5 items as a bundle pays one fee on £15 rather than three fees on £5. That is one reason bundle discounts shift cheap stock: the buyer saves on the fee as well as the price.

On our own listings, checked on 30 October 2026, a £25 T-shirt showed buyers £26.95 and a £56 teapot showed £59.50. Both work out at exactly 5% plus 70p, inside the published range. Vinted says the fee depends on the item, so others may differ.
What the fee buys the buyer
The fee is not pure margin for Vinted; it funds the guarantee that makes buyers trust a stranger. The Vinted fee page says it covers connecting buyers and sellers, member support, and applying the refund policy “if the item is lost, damaged, or significantly not as described” when bought from a non-professional seller.
The refund policy sets out what that means. A buyer has 2 calendar days from the delivery notification to report a problem. If the item is lost, never arrives or arrives damaged, the refund covers the item price, the shipping fee and the Vinted fee. If it is significantly not as described and goes back, the refund covers the item price and the Vinted fee, and “Buyers pay for return shipping” unless the seller chooses to provide a Vinted label for the return.
For a seller the useful points are:
- The buyer is refunded by Vinted, and you are paid by Vinted. The money does not move between you directly. Vinted’s page on getting paid says the order completes when the buyer presses “Everything is OK” or 2 days after delivery with no report, and your payment then moves from pending to available “within 2 days”.
- Change of mind is not covered. The refund policy covers lost, damaged and not as described. A buyer who simply went off the item cannot use the fee to force a return on a standard seller.
- A lost parcel is Vinted’s problem, not yours, provided you used the Vinted label. Our guide to lost or damaged Vinted parcels covers what to do when one goes missing.
Vinted Pro: free, with strings
If you buy stock to resell, make things to sell or run a shop, Vinted expects you on a Vinted Pro account. The Pro page says “Vinted Pro is entirely free” and that sole traders, non-profits and companies can sign up; you need to be registered as a business. There is still no selling fee.
What changes is the buyer’s rights, and your cash flow. The Pro help page says a buyer has “14 calendar days to report any issues or decide if they want to return the item”, that Pro sellers must accept those returns, and that your payment is released after the 14 days with no way to get it sooner, even if the buyer says they are happy. So a Pro seller waits 14 days where a standard seller waits 2, and carries the cost of change-of-mind returns that a standard seller can refuse.
The Vinted fee page says the refund policy it funds applies to purchases from non-professional sellers. On Pro purchases the buyer’s cover comes from consumer law and the 14-day return right instead. Whether you should be Pro is the same question as whether you are trading for tax, which our guide to tax on Vinted and Depop sales walks through.
The costs sellers still carry
No selling fee does not mean no cost. The ones that are real:
- Returns you agree to. The policy makes the buyer pay return postage unless you offer a label. If you do offer one, that comes out of your pocket.
- Postage you refund. Some sellers refund postage to settle a complaint. That is a choice, not a fee, but it is money gone.
- Bumps and Showcase. Priced per item at checkout, VAT included, no refund if the item sells on day one or the listing is removed for a rule breach.
- Packaging. A mailing bag is pennies, but on a £3 top it is a bigger share than any fee.
- Item Verification. Vinted’s price list says buyers pay £10 for Item Verification on eligible luxury items and £5 for Electronics Verification. The buyer pays it, but the item goes to Vinted’s hub first, so you wait longer for the money.
- Your time. Listing, photographing, replying to offers and printing labels. If you sell a lot, batching the admin is the saving that is actually in your control.
Vinted, Depop and eBay: seller cost compared

| Buyer pays on top | Vinted fee, usually 3% to 8% + £0.30 to £0.80 | Marketplace fee, up to 5% + up to £1 | Buyer Protection fee, £0.10 + 7% up to £20, then 4%, then 2% |
| Seller keeps on £20 | £20.00 | £19.12 | £20.00 |
| Buyer pays for £20 | £20.90 to £22.40 | Up to £22.00 | £21.50 |
| Postage | Buyer pays, prepaid label | You choose; processing fee applies to postage too | Simple Delivery; you choose who pays |
| Money available | Within 2 days of order completion | 2 business days after delivery with Depop Shipping | 2 days after delivery, or 24 hours for established sellers |
On fees alone Vinted and a private eBay account tie: you keep the full price on both. Depop’s payment processing takes 88p of a £20 sale. The real differences are elsewhere: Vinted’s buyer-paid postage and 2-day window against eBay’s 30-day Money Back Guarantee and Depop’s 30-day protection claims. Our eBay fees guide and Depop or Vinted comparison go through each one in full.
How SaleLinx helps
SaleLinx is a Chrome extension for Depop, Vinted and eBay sellers. There is no Vinted fee for it to save you, so where it helps is the time cost, the one Vinted seller cost that is real. The Labels tab gathers your sold Vinted and Depop orders, shows a countdown to each Vinted posting deadline, and prints the day’s labels as one merged PDF instead of one order at a time. My Listings shows every listing with its price, views and likes in one grid, and scheduled price drops lower a stale price in steps, never below the floor you set. If you also sell on eBay, the Vinted to eBay crosslister shows eBay’s fee on each item before it posts. Vinted’s terms restrict external software tools and bulk deleting and re-listing, so keep anything a tool does on your Vinted account to what you would do by hand. From £7.99 a month, with a 14-day free trial.
Questions
Does Vinted charge a fee to sell?
No. Vinted says there are no fees for selling and no limit on how many items you list. The buyer pays a Vinted fee at checkout instead. The only things a seller can pay for are optional promotions such as Bumps and Showcase.
What is the Vinted fee and who pays it?
It is the buyer-side fee Vinted adds to every Buy now order, usually 3% to 8% of the price plus £0.30 to £0.80, VAT included. It used to be called the Buyer Protection fee; Vinted renamed it in October 2026 without changing how it is worked out. The buyer pays it, and it funds Vinted’s refund policy and support.
Is the Vinted fee refunded?
Yes, when Vinted refunds the order. The refund policy says a refund for a lost, damaged or not-as-described item covers the item price and the Vinted fee, and for lost items the shipping fee too. A buyer who returns an item pays the return postage unless the seller provides a label.
Does Vinted take a cut of postage?
No. The buyer pays postage at checkout and Vinted sends you a prepaid label. You never set a postage price and nothing is deducted from your sale for it.
Does Vinted Pro cost money?
No. Vinted says Pro is entirely free and there is no selling fee. The cost is in the rules: Pro sellers must accept returns for 14 days after delivery and are paid only once those 14 days have passed.
How long does it take to get your money from Vinted?
The order completes when the buyer confirms or 2 days after delivery, your payment reaches your available balance within 2 days of that, and a withdrawal takes up to 5 business days to reach your bank. Posting promptly with a tracked Vinted label is the only part you control.
